  • The 53rd Venice Biennale, Italy
    The Venice Biennale International Art Exposition is one of the three major art fairs of the world. Reputed to be “the Olympics of the contemporary art world,” the Venice Biennale not only leads the art trend but facilitates academic dialogues across the globe. X-Power Gallery successfully promoted Lee Sun-Don in the 53rd Venice Biennale (2009) for the collateral events, expositions approved by the Venice Biennale‘s selection committee. Curated by internationally renowned Italian art critic Achille Bonito Oliva, Lee’s exhibition, held in Palazzo Pisani, centered around the theme of “Create & Change: Internal = External, 1=∞.” Lee was the first Asian artist to hold a solo exhibition in oil painting at the Venice Biennale.
     
  • Florence Biennale, Italy
    Italian Florence Biennale is an international contemporary art exhibition, attracting more than seventy countries and 800 artists to participate. In 2005, it was chosen as the “best international art fairs” for its unparalleled performance in creativity, diversity, and quality of the exhibiting artworks. X-Power Gallery entered this biennale in 2009, with its representing artist Lee Sun-Don winning the Lorenzo il Magnifico Award in painting.
  • 12th OPEN International Exhibition, Italy
    OPEN is an international exhibition of sculptures and installations. It is held at the same venue as Venice International Film Festival, Venice Lido. Impressed with the Totemic Energy sculpture entitled “Soaring” that was exhibited at the 53rd Venice Biennale, OPEN invited the artist of this sculpture, Lee Sun-Don from X-Power Gallery, to attend its 2009 exhibition.
       
  • The National Art Museum of Ukraine, Ukraine
    The National Art Museum of Ukraine is distinguished for its invaluable art collections. In 2010, Lee Sun-Don represented by X-Power Gallery held a joint exhibition entitled “The Inner Light of New Art” with Ukrainian Michael Murphenko in this museum, the pride of Ukraine culture. Curated by the National Art Museum of Ukraine, many of Lee’s classic artworks were displayed.
  • The Russian Academy of Arts, Russia
    The Russian Academy of Arts (RAA), previously Russian Royal Academy, was established in 1757. For the past 250 years or so, it has organized numerous expositions of master artists, such as Van Gogh, Cezanne, Miller, and Matisse. In 2009, it invited the pioneer of Totemic Energy Aesthetics, Lee Sun-Don (represented by X-Power Gallery), to hold a solo exhibition entitled “Zen – The Touch of Mind” at the Tsereteli Art Gallery in Moscow. The President of RAA, Zurab Tsereteli, also recommended Lee Sun-Don to be the joint chair professor of seven RAA-affiliated national art academies.
     
  • The RWS / Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, Bankside Gallery, UK
    The RWS / Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, co-organized by Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) and Sunday Times, is the world’s most prestigious competition in watercolour painting. The selected artworks are exhibited in the Bankside Gallery where RWS is based. In 2008, the artwork by Lee Sun-Don was accepted into this juried exhibition. Lee from X-Power Gallery was the only Asian artist winning this recognition that year.
     
  • Tabernacle Art Competition, MOMA Wales, UK
    The Tabernacle Art Competition is held in affiliation with Museum of Modern Art of Wales (MOMA Wales). MOMA Wales is adjacent to The Tabernacle, which was converted in the mid-1980s from a Wesleyan chapel into a centre for the performing arts. Since then the Museum of Modern Art has grown up around it. With Totemic Energy oil painting, Lee Sun-Don from X-Power Gallery was selected into this competition in 2008.
  • 27th International Autumn Salon of Lunéville, France
    International Autumn Salon of Lunéville is organized by Association of Lunéville Painters. It is an art competition by invitation. Lee Sun-Don represented by X-Power Gallery was invited to participate and exhibit his Totemic Energy oil painting in Espace Cultural Erckmann of Lunéville in 2008.
     
  • 55th Stockton Art League Juried Competition, Haggin Museum, US
    The Stockton Art League, established in 1936, has organized juried exhibition annually since 1951, with all selected artworks displayed at the Haggin Museum. The Haggin Museum highlights both aspects of art and history, and has been remarked by Sunset Magazine as “the jewel of California.” In 2008, X-Power Gallery’s representing artist Lee Sun-Don was invited for this exhibition – Lee’s artwork was even selected to put on the exhibition’s promotional banner.
